Sometimes I feel a bit fed up
TRiG (Ireland) A dog, so bade in office Started conversation Oct 11, 2009
I've been getting lazy recently about cooking. (Well, I always was lazy, but I had been getting better. I've regressed.) Anyhoo, I went to Macari's for dinner today. It's one of the good quality fast food places.
And a bunch of lads came in. One was a workmate. Another two were good friends (one since very early childhood). And two I didn't know.
We ignored each other.
A little later three girls came in to join them. One was my good friend's sister. Another, the only one to acknowledge me at all*, was my friend's (ex-?)girlfriend.
There are times when being an ex-Witness is annoying.
TRiG.
* And I may have been imagining that tiny nod.

Do they think you are a different person now? It's really hard to believe. Or do they have to fear reprisals (and if so, from whom)?

'Can I get a witness?' Seemingly not, in your case.

Sorry to hear that, Trig.
I note that you say "We ignored each other" - not "they ignored me". A subtle difference. Is there a reason beyond fear of rejection that you didn't make the first move if you'd like to have contact with them again?

In a bunch, they'd have ignored me. It would just have been horribly awkward to try to initiate conversation. (Though it was they, not I, keeping eyes averted.)
I've met one or two of them individually before, and actually had some form of interaction.
And I work with two Witnesses, who are perfectly friendly as long as we're inside the office. Apparently they're allowed to communicate with me since we work together.
It's all a bit of a mess, really.

I have heard the Witnesses can be very intolerant towards those who have left, or refuse to join with their partners.
Sorry you are having to experience this TRiG

Sometimes it all feels like a silly game, no?
There must be quite a lot of them in your town, or you chanced to find their favourite restaurant.

I don't get this lady. First she removed to some godforsaken, remote spot...then she has whole cities joining her there! Think of the Carbon Footprint your social life must have! It would be far Greener if we forced all the gregarious Terri's in the world to live in cities and the sociopaths in the countryside.
'Gregarious'? Interesting choice of words. Literally, fond of . Look it up!

Hi Ed and Terri. It came across as affectionate to me, but we all know how easy it can be to misinterpret banter on the Net.
