Hi Mbira,

I've looked at both your works in your portfolio. To be honest though, I've not read them. The reason I've not read them, is because they are visually daunting.

In my humble opinion, huge long paragraphs don't sit well on this site, as they can be difficult to read.

Neither do many stories over 1000 words, unless they're written in short punchy paragraphs.

Stories around the 2000 word mark can be posted in two parts. I believe there is more chance of the whole story being read, if you can hook them in with a good first part.
If it a glance, a story looks to long, I won't read it. I may be the only person like that, but then again, there may be hundreds like me.

There is so much material posted on this site, making it impossible to read every story, poem, conversation, etc.

You may well be alienating a huge potential audience, not with your words, but with the initial appearance. The cover, so to speak.

If you look at most of the stories in Short Stories, you'll see what I'm on about.

Good luck.smiley - ok

Hi tullyjb,
Thanks for your comments. I do see what you mean and I'll think about how to make the story more accessible before revising and editing. Mb

If you don't mind me sticking in my four-penneth here, I don't agree with Tullyjb. The layout of the site is not ideal for reading purposes that's for sure - writing too small, unable to format and colour scheme precludes long-term reading.

I like to read from paper and have never experienced the long paragraph problem when copied and pasted into Word with 1.5 line spacing.

I like your description and your scene building. If you need long paragraphs for this then use them. If you don't want to split your pieces up, don't (though this site has a maximum of 3000 words per work).

Cheers

Andyman
