Way back, in the late 70's I think, we had a TV series called "Taxi". The day-to-day silliness that abounded in the work and lives of a bunch of New York cabbies. One of them was played by Christopher Lloyd (of 'Back to the Future' fame). He was a burnt out, drugged out left-over from the hippie and flower-power days. And had become an ordained minister through some really obscure church of the day. And so was known as Reverend Jim Ignatowski.
Well, about 2 years ago, and after seeing replays of that show, I wondered if this ubiquitous internet could find me a free and legitimate ordination. And it did !!! The Universal Life Church is a valid American institution that is also recognized in Canada. So with a few key-strokes, I became Reverend Nick (etc)
A couple months later, I found and joined h2g2. Needing a user-name, I felt silly and went with "The Reverend Something or Other". That character got old and stale pretty quick, so I thought I'd just revert to simply "Nick". There are, how-ever, about 16 other people here with just that simple name. So I compromised, and am now seen as Rev. Nick.
Pretty long story to say nothing much, eh?
