Why do you think punk music influenced the youth of the late 1970's and is influencing the current youth.

Any answers from anyone much appreciated cause I need them for my exam in media stdies. Thankyou.

Rebellion.

1970s punk bands were loud, weird looking and played music that parents and the 'Establishment' hated - this made them very attractive to many youths. I think the social aspect of punk, such as going to gigs or playing in bands etc., also contributed to its influence.

Although I'd say that the majority of punk bands in the public eye today are socially acceptable and things perhaps aren't as rebellious and wild as they used to be, I'd say the whole idea still holds true smiley - smiley
