New CAR!

We have a new car, as of 7pm tonite!
*whoo hooooo*
Things about the old car that I won't miss, and not in any particular order, just collectively annoying:
* Draughty windows that whistle when you go over 10mph.
* The lack of A/C.
* Parts of doors randomly falling off in the most annoying places.
* Not being able to get doors open when successfully managing to shut the falling off doors.
* The dashboard clocks randomly turning off so when your driving along at 40mph, it tells you that you are moving at 0mph, and have no petrol...
* The indictors choosing not to work - generally when you want to turn, thus pissing off the driver behind you. But mysteriously they are working when you finally park up and get home.
* If you turn the steering wheel too hard it whines very loudly.
* The floors are soaking wet in the back.
* The windscreen/shield is so pitted that when the sun shines you can't see very well.
* The brakes don't work when it's cold, this is especially not fun...I was backing out one day and couldn't stop till I pulled the handbrake up.
* Geo's ex is the one who picked the car so it has been cursed ever since.
I hope it enjoys its new life as a Neon toaster. It leaves tonite...won't be a wet eye in the house.
Cue new car -
A Subaru Outback, four wheel drive, four years old, everything works...power gadgets n' things, more room....*yays* You could call it an Estate in the UK, here is is known as a station wagon.
The previous occupant smoked like a train tho, it stinks but I can work my womanly cleaning powers on that. I do hope they valet it before we pick it up but I don't hold out much hope...once a car is sold most garages then forget they ever owned the car in the first place - ripping off scum bags that they can be...*grr*
It is white, but I will get over that....

Yes, a nice, very tired looking mexican dude that didn't speak much English let it pass it's vehicle inspection/MOT during the Summer - I didn't think it would make it...
If I'd have took that to a UK garage, I'd have just gotten a raised eyebrow and told that I would be able to pick it up the following week after much welding and wiring... Either that or they'd have shut up shop...just as I was pulling onto the forecourt....

Oh, congrats on the new car! Your old one sure sounds like a wreck! Drive safely... and good luck getting rid of the smoky smell.

Yeh, the old car was very tired, and the tyres were completely bald...when we got into the new vehicle...Geo goes -
"Now, that's how to change your tyres"

In general i know bog all about cars BUT do know that when in the Middle East, we had a Subaru & unfortunately my then hubby had an atrocious accident in it (NOT his or anybody's fault) BUT fortunately he survived, entirely due to the fact the car was strong enough to cope with being clobbered by both a palm tree & a lamppost.
Just make sure you keep those tyres in good nick, very important.
happy trails!

Yup. And the police kept the poor sod handcuffed to the hospital bed till i had paid for both of these. Not fun. Avoid camels on Middle Eastern roads is my advice.

MV, how did you get the smoke smell out? Or did you?
Terri, the X was handcuffed to the hospital bed?
