Brilliant! Did you have the little darlings posing for you or do it from a photo? "I said look left & sit still!!" I don't know much about chinchillas, are they nocturnal? how big are they?
Well done, clever

Oh, Vix, how cool! Very well done! I agree with the general concensus, you are one talented artist. I tell ya, I don't know *anyone* here who isn't an artist of some sort, as are most of my RL friends as well. Why haven't I any artisitc talent?!
Beautiful work on a very adorable and fascinating subject.

I understand that chinchillas are about 90% fur. I imagine that if you shaved one, you'd be left with a skinny mouse.
By the same token, I've often wondered what an oven-ready owl might look like.

Gosh, I was so frozen out on my computer I had to pull the plug after sitting there for 10 mins waiting for whatever the 'puter was offended at to go away. I hate that, I had started to reply...and lost my text AGAIN.. I even had it in notetab just in case hootoo threw a wobbly...anyway....
I drew them from a photo, Terri, I don't have a good enuff photographic memory for that kind of instanteous sketching detail! Or the patience for that matter, I'd be screaming at the things to stand still... Or tying em to something...
Chins are nocturnal.
They come from high in the Andes Mountains of south America in Peru, Chile and Boliva.
Chins were first discovered by the Chinca Indians. Which is partly the reason I've started an Inca-esque design, I wanted to try something different. It's more difficult than I imagined.
I'm going to call it "Chinchilla God" *chuckles* I'm sorta halfway in right now. I hope that I can do the colour okay.
An oven ready owl? that seems so wrong Ed..*tsk tsk*
They are incredibly furry things, not easy to get that fluffy effect - I thought to begin with I was going to have to compose the whole drawing out of dots, luckily I got out of that Nothing can live in that dense fur, absolutely nuffink
Thank you all for your lovely compliments I enjoy them very much, they make me feel special I'm flattered and honoured that you take the time to look and enjoy what you see..

Wow, I can't imagine being a fan of an animal, it seems so weird. I know there are lots of people who only like fluffy animals and don't like insects and other long-leggety beasties, and thats weird enough for me. I am a fan of all animals and plants. I love the fluffy ones and I love insects etc.
Chinchillas are beautiful though and MV really did them justice.
How much do you charge for a picture like that MV? I am interested in having Fluffy the hamster, and the mad lesbian gerbils immortalised in the same way. That would be 2 different pictures BTW.

Kaz Posted Sep 8, 2004
Its true, they are sisters and shag a lot, I just think they are mad, but in gerbil terms they are probably quite normal!!
When I get a photo of them shagging I shall put it on my website, but normally we just laugh too much!

Thanks Bc
Adela, you prolly tried to get on the Fotki site the same time as me *chuckles*. I suddenly had the urge to tidy up, take the pics down that I don't like so much and to clean the ones up that are there with photoshop.
How much do I charge? It depends on what I am asked to draw and how long it takes. I always give the originals, they are not framed tho, I don't have the materials or know how for that...I will one day I hope!
The Chins took approx 12 hours to complete. She wrote me cheque for $40. I had a bit of a panic attack that I had overcharged and asked Geo to give her a tenner back!
If you want a pic doing Kaz, I'd be delighted to - just post a photo to my addy. No M L gerbil porn tho... We can haggle over the price after its done and there is no obligation to buy if you don't like it.

so what would you charge for a design to be done on computer (or off it if thats how you work BC being slow) to be printed onto fabric )oddly enough onto a cushionn )
mind you I'm still not sure how good the reproduction onto fabric would be (computers and my knowledge of how to get the best out of them being what they are) but you could have your 2nd hootoo commission soon
