Blackberry Cat , if one wishes to remain an individual in the midst of the teeming multitudes, one must make oneself grotesque

That is an amazing story smiley - laugh
If it was in a sitcom you wouldn't believe it

My parents were very secretive, which was a right pain... So I have written all the genealogical stuff out for my kids - for if/when they are interested... Also, because of Garth, we have boxes of photos, unfortunately, most of the very old ones are unidentified, and there's no one alive left to ask... As a result, I always write date and person on the back of photos, for the sake of a theoretical wondering grand-daughter in the future. (It's been my experience that girls are more interested in genealogy than boys, but there are exceptions...)

That's a good idea, the date and the person, Adel - I'm afraid I only get as far as writing the month and year on the front of the packet the photos come in...

I do have a couple of albums of G growing up and some of the relatives around him, whom I explain to him including the ones I don't like very much - such as his birth Dad. I never bitch about his Dad and avoid saying anything bad about him, and just usually say something along the lines of, your birth Daddy and I found that we didn't like each other very much..but that doesn't mean to say he doesn't like you, he does love you very much...looking at these photo albums also gives me the opportunity of introducing to him that I was mentally ill for a time and that his grandparents looked after him for 4 months. Important that he hears that from me first.

I also have a family tree that I created online - curtesy of -

In case anyone else suddenly finds themselves interested in geneology.
