I was feeling a bit sorry for you not getting any replies to your ant problem.
I of course have no ideas - perhaps buy a hamster to chase them away!

wow, this was ,like six years ago...
I have yet to find an effective and humane solution to keep ants away. Only idea I can think of - and it's not very practacle- is that in the summer, when they are mating, to catch all the new queen ants and put then in your neighbour's garden. Tricky to do though.
