The_Sherd_Whisperer

In my Social and Political Philosophy class, I've been getting compared to Machiavelli quite frequently. This troubles me, for though I haven't read "The Prince", I've been told that Machiavelli had some issues; the sort of issues that I don't think I have a problem with, such as the complete lack of a moral compass to the point of...well, let's just say it: Insanity. These comparisons come as a complete surprise to me, as I have never written an advice collumn for upstart, Italian princes planning the overthrow of a neighbouring state, nor have I recommended that the best way to do so is complete brutality.

I think my prof. confuses my view that "within today's society" moral right and political policy are seldom the same thing with Machiavelli's nun-beating view of the best public policy.

At least, I hope that's what it is. Either that, or somebody else has heard about what I did to become head candystriper in grade 10...
