I've just seen that thread on Ask, and then I looked at your volunteer thread. I don't care about HN's question (but then I know what you have contributed over the years). It does look as if Milla completely misunderstood you, though. Personally, I was happy to have you as a curator, but then I think you were more or less coaxed into it in the first place, so maybe you don't care either way? Oh, and in case you were baffled about Milla's post (I know I was) it is all explained here: http://h2g2.com/dna/h2g2/brunel/F127405?thread=8295643

Hi Bel. Good to hear from you.
I don't really care what Milla or some other Researchers think (if they were to read - not skim - more Entries, they would surely see how neglected the Guide appears), but I don't blame them for being defensive either.
I do care about the Guide - at least I did until I realized that nothing was being done to remove the bad Entries; to rectify the huge number of broken/poor links many Entries contain, or to bring (probably) most Entries up to date.
There are many well-written, genuinely amusing and pleasantly informative Entries in the Guide - unfortunately, they are surrounded by dross.
As it stands, the Edited Guide is an extremely poor advertisment for itself.
But... life in the community continues. Click, click, clique.

I think part of the problem is that the number of volunteers is limited. The curators are always quick to make suggested changes, and when I suggested an entry to be classed as 'mostly harmless' the other week, the guide eds agreed and changed the status.
If you have specific entries in mind, could you make a list and post it to the guide eds? They could then think what to do about those entries.

The Guide Editors should have a good look at what they're editing and decide for themselves whether quantity, rather than quality, is what this site is all about.

This has been discussed on h2g2 ever since I can remember. Imo one problem is, that you'd need to define quality. There are entries in the guide which make me shake my head in disbelief, yet they may be very popular. I think that popularity will win over quality each time, especially since the site needs to make money with the guide. But that's just my personal opinion.

I know.
I'm battling against windmills about the claim of the site being international, or wanting to be international, but the 'British' pov is so much engraved in the brains of most people that they just don't realise how British it all is. A few things have been changed after I pointed them out, though, so that's progress.
