I’m feeling a bit more upbeat than I was last week. I had a really busy weekend, but busy in a good way. On Saturday my girlfriend and I threw a dinner party. Friday night was spent shopping and most of Saturday was spent cooking. But it was all worth the effort in the end because I think everyone had a nice time. We made carrot and coriander soup for starter. For main course we had baked salmon with dill, tarragon and lemon juice dressing with lemon and rocket risotto, steamed carrots and asparagus and a salad. And for afters we had Tia Maria tiramisu and chocolate brownies for anyone who still had room. It was really nice to get a few good friends together, eat good food, drink a lot of wine and talk. And I was really pleased that everyone we asked came along, got on well and seemed to enjoy themselves.
Sunday was a bit of a dead day for me. I got to bed quite late (and rather drunk) on Saturday and didn’t get up until hunger drove me from my bed at around midday (my girlfriend had a dance contest in Southampton so she left me asleep at eight in the morning). When I surfaced most of the tidying up had been done (my housemates are great) so I had some lunch and went for a run.
Also this weekend I began to start training seriously for Bath Half. The race is on March 20th so I have about six weeks to get myself into reasonable shape. I’m not sure if I’m going to be able to beat my personal best at Bristol last year because I’m really badly out of condition at the moment, but we’ll see.
