h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

I recently visited the UK HQ of the Transcendental Medtiation movement. They told me thet Mahareshi Mahesh Yogi (of sixtes an The Beatles fame) was actually trained as a quantum physicist.

He claims to have a mathematical proof which shows that the ultimate building block of matter (and hence the universe) is consciousness itself. I could not understand the proof, despite being an MSc mathematician myself!

However, if you accept the premise, then lots of 'convenient' explanations lend themselves. For example, the uncertainty that exists at the quantum level is the root of our free will. We don't create the Universe in our consciousness; we are one and the same. We are therefore all connected connected at this level.

What the major religions say about the nature of existence may actually actually be alegories of a scientific reality.

I'll leave you to work on the implications of the above, but I have been researching the subject for about ten years and I am finding that a picture is building up which allows for such things as telepathy and reincarnation .... and I'm not particularly religious!
