Hi Peter,
It's a long time since I have been on the site - I've been busy doing OU assignments - last one has gone now and only got an exam to sit in Oct. Anyway, thought I'd have a little mosy around it tonight and when I searched for the POW camp my Dad was in amazingly a chap from Edinburgh Harry Hawthorne (pleasanceedinburgh) had posted a note about it. I think he may have been in the same company as my dad because he was captured in the same place, same date. This is quite amazing as this is the only mention of that particular camp and also there are hardly any stories from ex members of 5th KOSB.
I hope he replies to me.
Once the site closes, there will be no hope of these chance encounters.
All the best,
Marjorie

Hi Marjorie
Good to see you back. I am pleased that you have been able to find out a little more about your father's history.
Are you enjoying the OU? I did, I got an OU BA (Honours) degree in 1988, at the time when two foundation courses were compulsory. It was a long hard slog, while still working, but well worth it.
Keep at it!

Hi Peter,
This is year 6 for me with the OU. I've got an open classification for my degree but I think I'll link it with social sciences as this is what I seem to have done most of. This year my level 3 is "Crime Order and Social Control" so with last year's "Culture Media and Identities" I have enough level 3 points for my honours. However, I need another 30 points so I've decided to do a course that links with work (I'm a nurse) so I'm doing Management Health and Social Care. This is level 3 60 points so it will be another year of hard slog! Never mind, nearly there.
I have really enjoyed the OU but because I now work full time it has become a lot harder!
Speak to you soon.

Very interesting Marjorie. Where did you do Summer School? Over the years I went to Stirling, York, and Bath universities. Great fun!
Peter
