Many thanks for your reply to my queries about Le Hamel. Being a novice to this kind of site it took me 6 days to realise you'd replied! I have already downloaded the map you so kindly sent...thanks it is a real help. I wonder now whether my father actually set up his workshop for repairing military vehicles in Asnelles but thought he was still in Le Hamel as that's where they'd landed on D-Day. They seem to be one and the same today so perhaps that's how it was in 1944 too.
Had a brief look at your personal info & have to say what an interesting life you've led & still lead. Curious as to why you were sent to Italy as a child. I'm studying Italian as I love the country so much but am not much of a linguist. In fact I think it was because of this that when I was in France recently trying to sort out my father's D-Day movements, I got so confused. My French is now so appalling, kept trying to speak Italian with the result that no-one understood me!
