Hello Ron
Just found your Grand tour and looking at it realised that you have been to same places as I have. Then saw your photo and the battle axe.
I have a copy of the Battle Axe Weekly on my computer. I was in 237 coy RASC 78 Div also 294 Coy 78 Div. Was attached to 217 Field Ambulance where I drove Austin Ambulances and Dodge ambulances. Also was with the jeep platoon at Cassino based at San Michele. I have yet to wade through your grand tour, It will bring back memories. I have had a go at writing on the WW2 site but find it a bit daunting. My ID's for the site are
A2883909 & A2972621
I remember the night we stopped in Assisi and went round the churches. Also Egypt and Shaftos The Blue Lagoon and the Blue Kettle.
Will get in touch with you when I have enjoyed reading your Grand Tour.
Regards

Hi Harry
Glad you came across my 'Grand Tour'and welcome to the club!.
By all means, wade your way through my Album (if you've got the patience) and do let me know where else our paths have crossed.
You will see that I eventually left the Ack Ack (and the 78th Div) to join the RAC but I was always coming across the Batleaxe even after the war finished in Austria.
I would be interested in seeing your copy of the Battle Axe Weekly. Did you find it on the Internet?.
If you did, perhaps you'd let me know the web-site address. If not, perhaps we coulds arrange for an e-mail to be forwarded on to me by the BBC WW2 Organisors. (DONT publish your e-mail address on this site, there are a lot of nasty people out there!)
Nice making contact, we will have more to say to each other next time.
Best wishes
Ron
