"Born out of Celtic, the language today is rarely spoken, despite the efforts of many Local Authorities."

Not true. The language has declined a lot over the last 150 years but still has roughly 500,000 speakers. There are 2 television channels in Welsh, one of which I am watching by staellite in London while typing this.

"In fact there are more Welsh speakers (as a first language) in South America than there are in wales."

Not true. Estimates vary a lot but there are maybe 3,000 Welsh speakers in Patagonia in Argentina which was the site of a Welsh settlement over 100 years ago.

"Speaking welsh means there is a lot of spraying rather than saying,"

Not true. English-speaking peoples are convinced that you have to spit to speak Welsh. This is a stereotype that I have not encountered amongst other peoples such as the Germans, Catalans, Mexicans, etc. that I know to have learnt the language. When you speak Welsh PROPERLY you do not spit more or less than other languages.

"with amazingly long words,"

There are long words and short words. I do not have any figures but I suspect that the average word length in Welsh is probably only slightly above that in English.

"which are phonetic providing you know what the letters sound like."

Correct! Thank you.

I think 'bollocks' is the best way to describe this little patronising attempt at humour.
