h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

Well, I just commited my first act of Hitchhikery, or whatever is appropriate. I criticized a poem written by a heartbroken parent of a stillborn. I called it "not a legitimate poem," and I tried to be gentle other than that, but still . . .you know, there's art and there's people. I believe in art so much, believe you must seperate criticism from general emotion - BUT THIS SEEMS SO WRONG. I mean, writing, esp. poetry, is so inextricably bound with emotion. So I don't know if I "did right."

oh, i know everyone has their own opinion . . . but i wonder if it was appropriate to express my opinion in this situation.

People who cant accept criticism, either positive or sometimes downright rude, dont publish their works in any medium for very long... u have to be thick skinned - I should know, Ive had a few real tramplings!

i should submit some of my poetry . . . but i hate all of it. NOTHING ever passes the next-day test. Sometimes they pass the next-week test, but then they don't pass the next-week-and-a-day test. I think it must be someone else's fault.
