I wired the half-a-laptop to the network today, but the other machines can't see it. There's no point in moving the modem onto it until I get that sorted out first...

Glad to see like me, lap-tops don't like networks; I'v had at least 3 independant so-called network people look at mine and laugh; so, I guess its another lazzy day for me also.

I know what caused my problem; I just can't think of an easy way to fix it. The laptop only has a 60MB HDD, and one of the Microsoft installers crashed out from lack of swap space while installing their network services update. I get messages about a couple of missing files when I boot.
I've been promised another HDD with a dizzying 80MB capacity () so I'm waiting for that before I reinstall everything.
