Yesterday, I did my best to be "domestic". I managed to run a load through the dishwasher, and to run the tumble drier. (Twice. When I unloaded the washing I found I had somehow missed the only spare socks I have - I found them under a plastic bag in the bottom of the washing basket, so I had to hand-wash them in the bathroom sink and then waste electricity by tumble-drying them on their own... smiley - facepalm)

I did a (very) little tidying, then James arrived. smiley - erm

I fed him and let him watch "Family Guy" and a "Supernatural" special. smiley - online2long In return he tidied up the remaining recyclables, so I can arrange for them to be removed, and took out one of my bin bags. smiley - oksmiley - ta

During that time, George showed up to give me back my spare keys. I should have a visit from my Social Worker in about 20 minutes, at which time I'll pass them on to her so she can let the guy from cleansing in for the recycling while I'm out at the hospital sometime in the next couple of days. smiley - cool

Once James and George had left I ate a hearty supper and flopped down in front of the TV. smiley - yawnsmiley - chef

I watched "Bob's Burgers", "NCIS", "Arrow", "Criminal Minds" and "Brooklyn 9-9". smiley - cdouble

Hi Peet

My ADSL went down so I had to use my Dongle, which runs out on 19th Oct, so I must use it anyway.

But my goodness it's SO MUCH FASTER than my ADSL! I'm on a 10Mb enabled exchange although my connection is only 4Mb; I'm going to have to renegotiate my connection and get a faster link, because this dongle was something else. I downloaded half a file in no time flat at 1 MB/s, yes one megaBYTE per second! Amazing. This was Transmission.

So I'll maybe go out tomorrow and seek out the Telkom people and possibly my ISP as well, wherever they're at.

My book is being printed at the moment and should be ready by the end of the week I should hope although I don't know how long it takes to make a thousand books.

I have copies to send to people - including the woman at the publishing house I was emailing with, who stopped emailing when I told her I was self-publishing. I will send her the book.

An aside in a chat with George led to me discovering that installing Fibre broadband doesn't mean changing the socket in the wall, and the cable to the Fibre router is identical the the ADSL one. This is great news, as the only thing stopping me signing up for fibre was the fact there's a heap of immovable furniture between me and my ADSL socket - all I can reach is the router end of the ADSL cable. But if all I need to do is plug that into a Fibre router, I think I'll go for it! smiley - geeksmiley - cool

I had an email from TalkTalk a couple of weeks ago offering me an upgrade to Fibre with a free router and six months half-price. I'll have to search it out. smiley - runsmiley - simpost
