Today, everything has gone surprisingly well!
My new shoes, as tried on me by the District Gnurse, fit perfectly!
I got my new laptop ordered, in spite of the company I was trying to order from who insisted that I must remember the postcode of my previous flat despite the fact that was almost twenty years ago. But I got the order through, and the insurance company signed off on it and set things in motion to pay all but £100 of the costs into my bank account before the end of the week.
I transferred everything from my small freezer into the huge one, and now it's defrosting. In theory, I should be able to leave it switched off for a month or two to save on electricity costs.
I downloaded and installed the latest "Gotham" release of XBMC into my Android TV box, and almost all of the small niggling video glitches seem to be gone. I may try nudging it up from 720p to the full 1080p and see if it can still cope. (The older video driver stuttered badly if I set it over 720p... )
And I've just nearly finished my third glass of and the end of a bar of ...
I watched the end of "Orphan Black", (it turned out I missed fifteen minutes last night because of a corrupt memory stick. ) "Star Trek Continues" and "True Blood". I'm going to grab some meds and a donut, then I'll watch "Andromeda" before I crash...
A good day, all things considered.

You remind me that the drinks fridge in the laundry room, the freezer needs defrosting badly. I must get around to doing that.
What about your operation?? Have you had it? I haven't kept up. It's been a bit chaotic here.
A good day, all things considered.

I got operated on just after 3pm on Wednesday, and I was home and bleeding on my own bed by Wednesday night.
A good day, all things considered.

OK, good, as long as you're all right.
Any chance of a kidney transplant? It's pretty routine these days, and people survive normally and so on... I know it sounds daunting, but I'm sure you'd be OK. I don't think dialysis is supposed to be a permanent solution.
Thinking of you mate.

I haven't considered it yet. Post-transplant seems fairly traumatic, as I see transplant recipients who aren't allowed to do as much as prepare their own food in a microwave for six months after the procedure, and I don't have the kind os "support structure" that would let me live like that. Plus it's not the permanent solution people think it is - there are people on the dialysis ward who have got through two or three kidneys, each lasting maybe two or three years before failing and putting them back on dialysis.
Right at this moment, I'm just trying to deal with the dialysis schedule. Maybe after the first year I'll consider the transplant list. But every transplant carries a non-trivial chance of death.
A good day, all things considered.

OK I see. Onwards with the dialysis then!
