By 3pm I had rearranged various appointments, booked a computer engineer for a callout*, filled my tablet with enough video files to watch for the next two weeks, run the dishwasher**, charged my tablet and my camera and caught up with reading my mail. Oh, and communicated with 34SP a couple of times to try to get to the end of the plague of problems introduced by their badly-behaved anti-SPAM feature. smiley - puff

(*As George said when I told him "That means you're a failure!". But there's madness in my method... The company I contacted do a free callout and fix the laptop in-situ for a flat fee of £69. And they're coming on Wednesday. As the laptop is a Sony I doubt I could buy a spare keyboard that cheaply myself, it wouldn't be here by Wednesday and with my eyesight it would take me more than a day to install it... smiley - evilgrinsmiley - geek)

(**Twice, acyually, as the machine is playing up and just didn't dissolve the powder the first time. smiley - facepalm)

Just after 3pm George called me, and we spent a fun twenty minutes or so troubleshooting his 'phone which has been playing up for the last week or so. After that, I napped for an hour-and-a-half or so. smiley - sleepy

In the evening, I watched "The Saint in New York", "House of Cards", "Andromeda", "Bang goes the Theory" and "Rev". smiley - cdouble I plan to watch an episode of "From Dusk till Dawn" before I crash. smiley - vampire

woofti aka groovy gravy

That's not very kind! ("failure") It means nothing of the sort. But I notice from ML that they won't touch the Vaio. Bummer. Nice machine though. I wonder what Bob did to it that screwed it up so badly... or maybe it was a KATT...

No, it was mostly me. smiley - blush

Bob had covered the keyboard with such a thick layer of tar & ash (he used to just let his roll-ups drop ash on the computer rather than using an actual ashtray) that you couldn't read the captions on the keys. I had a go at cleaning it off with 98% Methanol, which made the keys look sparkly clean, but washed enough of the gunk down the sides that the keys started sticking and several stopped working. smiley - blushsmiley - geek

Even if I hadn't tried that I would have been looking for a replacement keyboard. I wouldn't type on it in the state I got it. smiley - yuk
