[Cough]
Greetings, puny Earthlings. Much has happened since we last spoke.
For example, I was rushed to hospital the Friday before last, where I managed to lose my housekeys, my shoes and almost three stone.
My kidneys have been on the way out for a while. I had a three-to-six month "window" to make arrangements for treatment, fitting a peretoneal dialisys machine in my home and being trained in how to uae it, along with a course of psychology to get me over my crippling needle phobia. Except...
The very Friday I was scheduled to have my first appointmrent with the psychologist, a wheesing chest problem suddenly developed into a high fever, diarrhoea and an inability to breathe.
It took me half the day to be able to 'phone the doctor. When he arrived I was so puffed out by answering the door that we had to communicate in sign language.
I got rushed to hospital and stuck on the end of an Oxygen hose for a couple of days, and then went "under the knife" to be fitted with a "port" for Haemodyalysis.
Much hilarity ensued.
I'll take this opportunity to thank my anaesthetist who took it all in good humour and saw my needle phobia as a challenge, to the point he had me gassed in a little tented-off area next to the theatre so I wouldn't have to see any needles.
So... I just got home, thanks to my pal George, and I have a heap of appointments to make. Thanks to all my friends who visited me.
The upshot is that I need to be "plugged into the Matrix" three days a week now for the rest of my life. And I now have to greatly limit my intake.
I'll no doubt regail you with tales of hospital life in later Journals, but at the moment I feel like crap and am going for a nap.
Thanks for all the good wishes. Much appreciated.

Peet,
I am very pleased to read the good news that you are home.
Tough road though, you seem very resilient, even though I doubt you felt answering the door to the and cutting down on coffee, well that is a major blow, while I don't know what it feels like to have knackered kidneys I can feel that pain.
(I hope that wasn't too informal )
(with an emergency pack of pants rolled up in it)
thank you Drugless for the updates
and all the best and
Peanut

Peet! I'm so glad you are back home! It looks like you have your work cut out for you, but I'm sure you will rise to the challenge. Please take care of yourself.
