My stomach hurts a lot less today. 
I made it to my 9am appointment fractionally late... 
The reason was that the woman at thew desk sent me on a wild goose chase that involved climbing a long flight of stairs, just to be confronted with a locked door. 
I had to wander two other floors till I found a member of staff, and they just directed me back down to the front desk. 
There, I found a different woman who pointed me to the right place... 
I had a long chat with a psychiatrist about my needle phobia and the things I've done in the past to try to get over it. He says he'll consult with others and call me back in a month or so... 
Later in the evening I had a couple of visits from my pal Aidan - one to tell me that he had passed my request (I'm looking for a new "PHP Guru") on to the local Linux User Group, and the second to pick up his rucksack that he left behind on the first visit.
On the technical front there's good news and bad news. The good news is that I finally copied all the data I want off Bob's external HDD and onto my NAS device... The bad news? One of the two drives in the NAS just failed so I might have just wasted the best part of three days. 
I just made up a bootable Spinrite CD, and I'll have a go at fixing it tomorrow... 
I watched "Under the Dome", "New Tricks", "Castle", "Never Mind the Buzzcocks" and "The Wrong Mans". 
I've got some TV shows downloadad, but they're all on the NAS so I can't immediately watch them.

You need to watch and re-watch those episodes of House where they stick a needle in the patient's eye...
Or buy a knitting needle and stick a Saltire on it and call it your friend. Before jabbing yourself in the thigh with the pointy end. Repeatedly.
