Mother's coming to visit tomorrow. Apart from picking up some Linux CDs from Bob I've spent the whole day drinking to try to forget about it.
I'm off to bed; I'm recording "Alias" on the DVD writer.

Happy Birthday Peet.
Best of luck in surviving the visit from Mother .
My adult children manage to survive visits from me, so there is every hope for you
Seriously though, I hope it isn't quite as bad as you anticipate.
Meanwhile, time to tuck into a slice of birthday
Hugs
Auntie Prue

Happy Birthday Peet from your cyber twin - (it's my birthday tomorrow too.)
I hope it's a good one in spite of impending visit.

It's 10 past 4 in the afternoon and here I am with my afternoon wondering how you're getting on with "the mother". Let us know, won't you? I hope it didn't spoil your birthday too much.

Thanks, everybody!
I did my utmost best to be pleasant; in three-and-a-quarter hours in her company I only told her to shut up three times.

Well, happy birthday anyhow.
I remember your 20th birthday. You had a wee party in the Candlelit Lounge at RGIT Student Union. The food was mostly green, IIRC, and you had boxes of Mars Bars to give away - the altruism of this gesture truly staggered me, but I was still relatively recently out of The Broch in those days, and any form of altruism was still a novelty. All the usual suspects were present.

It was "ball bearing and axle grease sandwiches".
(Peanut butter with a few drops of blue food colouring stirred through and a bag of little silver sugar-ball cake decorations mixed in!)

Happy Birthday Peet!
If I had known more in advance I could have got you something from your Amazon list (because you've given such helpful computer advice in the last few months). However, the lack of recent additions might mean that you've already got those things and simply haven't updated it ... given time I might have been able to winkle that out of you.
So all I can do is wish you
MANY HAPPY RETURNS
Bonsie
