A fascinating article - I'm afraid all I know about Tipu Sultan I learnt from the Sharpe novels, although I have seen his tiger in the Victoria & Albert.

everyone know's it was sharpe who killed the tippo.
The good thing about the sharpe novels is that the author does a lot of research, so quite a lot of the stuff in them is factual (apart from sharpe, harper, etc, obvs).

The article on Tipu Sultan ONLY deals with his fight with the British.
Not a single word about how he treated his own people or what their lives and culture were like.
I have been to Mysore and loved the place and its people. Tipu is indeed revered there by Hindu and Muslim alike.
This article embodies everything that is wrong with HIS story.
Can someone please write a decent articlke about Tipu and tell us something interesting about him, and the people he ruled??

The TV serial 'The Sword of Tipu Sultan' in Hindi & Urdu, was directed by Sanjay Khan, who also played the role of The Sultan, and was based on the novel of the same name written by Dr. Bhagwan S Gidwani.
