Hi Merkin!
I'm just a bit curious: Your SETI@home statistics say you're taking over 23 hours on average for each packet, which would mean about 1 packet each day. However: I see your total go up by sometimes 4 packets a day... In the name of all the monsters, how many system do you have running this program???

Heh, heh, heh. I have 2 PCs here at work both running it. Though there are 1 or 2 other PCs around here which I converted to my cause, but they're very rarely used, so I don't think they've made much of an impact. Unfortunately I havehad no luck persuading our IT dept to use the servers for hte cause!! Myt average is kept down, cos often it doesn't connect automatically when finished. Does your's do this?

There's a SETI bod out there called Burning Bill, who does a unit per hour!!

So you ARE using 4 machines! BAD!!!
If they're in a network, then you should tell them they're always connected. Only the system that does the real internet connection should be configured differently. It should be set to automatically connect when any of the systems asks for it. This may sometimes be quite a pain to get it right.
Mine simply connects when it needs to. I've told the SETI-client that it may freely connect to internet whenever it wishes to do so. I've left my system unattended for 3 days a short while ago. In that time it transfered four packets.

Yeah, there are a couple of those around... very bad for my morale!
Every time my system processes ONE packet, he burns out 17 or 18 of them. There's no way to keep up with that.
He must be using some ALPHA at 1 GHz or something like that. Most certainly not running any Micro$nort WinShit variant either. Most likely Unix or the likes.

My two machines have seperate access, an they're both set up to access whenever they like, but sometimes they don't seem to want to connect. C'est la vie, I suppose.

Here I am again...
Were you aware of the fact that when entering an URL on the SETI web-site, you should NOT include the string "HTPP://", because their system already does that internally? Your URL is now pointing to: http://http://www.... etc. etc.
and... wouldn't you like to attract more people to support the H2G2-team? If you'd place a link to article A193231, anyone visiting your page might also learn about it I won't charge you for it

Ta very much.
I will add a link on my next homepage rehash. Don't get much time to do stuff on H2G2 any more

You're welcome.
Pity about that little time you have. Being active here is fun to do.
