The Election (again)
Doc U Started conversation Aug 8, 2004
The upcoming election depresses me. I don't want to vote for John Kerry, but I just found out that my state is a battleground state, so I can't "throw my vote away" by voting for a third party (just as well - I would never vote for Nader anyway). I guess I'll have to vote the John-John ticket.
What's really disheartening, though, is that there are tons of letters to the editor in my hometown paper telling people to vote for Bush. I have yet to see a single pro-Bush letter that makes any sense at all. There's just not any good reason to vote for Bush. I can't think of one. I mean, at least in the 2000 election, you could have hoped that his Cabinet would make him look smart and keep him from making bad choices, but now we should know better.
Well, it's time to change subject. Lately, I've made a hobby of stealing accordions.
Also, I just listened to the Dead Kennedys track "We've Got a Bigger Problem Now." It's like "California Uber Alles," but about the late Ronald Reagan instead of Jerry Brown. This makes me think: has Jello Biafra written another version of "California Uber Alles," this time about Arnold Schwarzenegger? It seems like a no-brainer, what with Arnold being governor of California and having an Austrian accent and all.
