I had some ideas for H2G2 things, but I forgot most of them. Here's one:

The Faint Praise Game, aka The "Best of" Game.
In this game (which'd probably be a thread on Ask H2G2), you take a person, place, or thing that isn't very remarkable and try to come up something at which he/she/it is "The Best." For instance, Kid Rock isn't The Best Musician from Detroit, but he is "The Best Non-Rap Recording Artist from Detroit to be Nominated for an American Music Award in the Last Year". Here's the problem with the game: the obvious way to continue the game is to have the first respondent name the next person/place/thing to be Faintly Praised, but this would make it difficult for people to point out exceptions to a post without interrupting the flow. Example (responding to a post naming "Kid Rock" as the next thing to be Faintly Praised):
*****************************************************************
Post 1: Best Rock Musician from Detroit to Recently Release a New Album.
The Montreal Expos

Post 2: Best French-Canadian Major League Baseball Team
Tom Arnold

Post 3: Wait, Jack White is a better Detroit rocker than Kid Rock, and the White Stripes recently released a new album!

Post 4 (from first poster): OK, Best Rock Musician from Detroit to be Nominated for an AMA.

Post 5: Who's turn is it?
*****************************************************************

There wouldn't be much continuity with a system like that. Actually, I'd prefer a format where the subject was named in the first post, then narrower and narrower categories were defined until no exceptions could be found, but then there would be no easy way to continue the game.

Key: Complain about this post
