Lanza is correct - it shouldn't have an 'e'. It still needs a full-stop after.
There should be no capitalisation (with the exception of the first word, of course).

I used to help mum starch dad's collars for his police uniform in the 60s, then push in the stiffeners, before dad attached them to his shirt using studs at the front and back.
