You call them "Puzzle-solving Organisms" - great title! I am sure I have seen lots of the orange type when we're out walking. Now I can impress Andy by telling him what it is!smiley - ok

I am at a loss to categorise them though, are they plant or animal? I did do a search but I'm no wiser. Our entry on Amoebas lists them in plants. Yet "Plants, fungi and the underground internet", which talks of slime mould, is listed under Plants and Plants/Trees. smiley - erm

Thanks GB smiley - hug You're a star doing all this subbing smiley - star - much appreciated smiley - biggrin

smiley - biggrin I have probably seen a slime mould, too, but didn't know what it was at the time - I definitely will be keeping a lookout for more this autumn smiley - ok

That is a good question about 'animal, vegetable or mineral'... I think I would go with putting them in 'Animals' with amoebas as they are more than just fungi smiley - ok

smiley - cheers

You know, after I posted that I went and read the PR thread, and it had been discussed. Calling them animal because of their locomotion amused Dmitri's tutor, they're supposed to be plants. But I don't see why they can't be both. After all, when I watch carnivorous plants devour flies, beetles, etc, smiley - yikes I don't think "pretty flower...", I regard them as animals in plant form.

We could always store them in both. smiley - winkeye
