Another unexpected problem caused by the growing cone population and the subsequent dispersal of colonies of cones to motorway areas was of course some cones became deeply depressed. This is most true where the cones are standing in long lines each cone being more than 3 metres apart. The UK goverment has been testing several methods of improving the cones mental health. The most promising experiment so far is the "Cones hotline" where distressed motorists can report any cones that are looking particularly despondant.
