The Jester

Have you ever sat on your hotel balcony watching the lizards? Those poolside human lizards that lie basking in the glare of the evening sun. The fire in the sky that slowly drips down the skyline into tomorrow. Leaving those sun tormented fetishists that pray for colour, to dream of the morning, when the dragon rears it's ugly head and awakens the cancer that dwells within.
I'm watching them just now, watching them from my second floor balcony, they're completely unaware of my spying. But I'm watching them. I'm watching them suffer, watching them suffer in the heat. And for what? Colour? Colour that just fades away?
The cancer stays though my friends but the lizard's oblivious to the danger.
I watch the odd creature venture to the waterside, with its invitingly beautiful palm tree gracing the mosaic tile floor. Tentatively they enter the water, enter the dragons mouth, the true fire breather and all the while the sun drips down. Burning first one cell, then another, another... and yet another cell.
Still who am I to comment? This is the lifestyle of a poolside lizard; this is the only thing they know. I'll tell you one thing though! It's no life for me, killing yourself for the want of some colour.
