I'm off to work very soon, but I'll take a look at this after I get back. I'm sure I'll be able to handle the changes via EF or the Curators' page - I'll just have to make sense of them all first

As I'm very slow reader, I may find something wrong on these articles, so you have enough time to change these

Mr. Dreadful - But really I'm not actually your friend, but I am... Posted Mar 19, 2007
The Last Samurai is worth a go... despite what the trailers, etc. imply Tom Cruise doesn't actually become a Samurai (I was initially put off because that's what I thought was going to happen), he merely takes their side.

The seven Samurai is one of the best ten films ever, any one care to offer any more suggestions.

In the article
http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/classic/A12590462
There is a 'The Diamyo' section, but this is misspelled.
It's the 'DAIMYO' not DIAMYO'
Also, we don't say 'SAMURAI period', we may say 'BUSHI period' instead.
the word, "Samurai" is more popular than 'Bushi' in the other worlds, but it's only the word of the 'fighter' like Knight.
and the Daimyo System was established after Edo Period (1600)
As far as 'the Periods are concerned, Kamakura Period, Muromachi Period, Azuchi Momoyama Period, Edo Period are followed after Heian Period, and there was Meiji Period after Edo Period (Meiji restoration)
Also, if there is the HEIAN PERIOD in this article as Japan's history, why there isn't The NARA PERIOD in this article???? This is why most of people in the world think Kyoto was the first capital city in Japan instead of Nara
Should change this section.

Mr. Dreadful - But really I'm not actually your friend, but I am... Posted Mar 20, 2007
Well, us lot in the UK can barely get our own history right... how can we be expected to cope with Japanese history?

kbrtiata Posted Mar 20, 2007
Hi Mr Dreadful,
if you are not interested in it, you don't have to read it
Because I found it wrong on those articles, so I wanted editors to correct them.
I wrote this journal for pointing them out to mostly editors, and you can ignore this journal if you're not interested in
Anyway, I am really fed up with the wrong image that you, western people, have to SAMURAI as a JAPANESE.

I just need to explain something to you, Taamyu, as I think we're both confused in different ways here
There are two types of Entry in the Guide, there are Edited and Unedited Entries.
Unedited ones haven't been edited, obviously, so might contain errors, but this doesn't matter as much because they don't form part of the 'official' Guide. The best way to sort out errors on these is to contact the author.
Edited Guide Entries have been edited; they have gone through Peer Review, been edited by a Sub-editor and polished and accepted by the Editors. They are part of the official Guide, and can be found via search engines - not just through h2g2. So if there are errors in these, we need to know about them so we can correct them!
Of the three you have found errors on, only one is edited and part of the official guide, so I'll only be able to correct mistakes on that one. The Edited entries we have on general Japan are:
A19617726 - Japan for the Visitor
A663040 - A Brief History of Pre-Samurai Japan and the Rise of the Samurai Clans
A19617753 - Japan 2: Japan Today
If you find any mistakes on these, please let me know on this thread and I'll make sure they are sorted out for you! At the moment, I can't distinguish between mistakes you have found on edited Entries and mistakes you have found on Unedited ones But please let me know, as it's important that we get them addressed

Oh, it's not that I'm not interested... it's just a common theme with UK history that a lot of what we "know" is wrong, and I was using that as a basis for a comment that if we can't get our own history right, we probably won't get other people's history right either!
But yes, many people in the UK have a very incorrect view of Japanese culture, especially the historical aspects such as the Samurai.

Skankyrich [?] Posted Mar 20, 2007
The 'diamyo', as we misspell it, only appears on A12590462, which is an unedited entry, for example

Hi Rich
for explain about articles. Yes, I'll read those 3 editted entries, and see what they write about Japan...
as for the article A12590462, the editro is my friend here, so she will have a look, that's fine
I relly don't understand why Samurai is so popular there ...
Hi Mr. Dreadful,
for your reply
I understand what you say, as you said, even we Japanese have lots of incorrect/wrong things on our history ...
The thing is that lots of you have still the same image/view of Japan with CHINA/KOREA like, we, Japanese, have got the similar misunderstandings to western people...
Believe you me, most of us say Hello (English) whenever we/they see western people without checking/listening what language they(tourists) speak ... And when we see Asian people(tourists), we ask them in JAPANESEM even then can't speak/understand Japanese
Well, Mr. Dreadful, I'm very happy if you peep my journal
DAIMYO
Skankyrich [?] Posted Mar 20, 2007
Let me know what you find, and I'll make sure it's sorted out pronto!
By the way, if it makes you feel any better, I have absolutely no interest in Samurai whatsoever

kbrtiata Posted Mar 20, 2007
Rich, You're supurb hahahahahha. I'm sure that there are lots more interesting, amusing cultures of our country, I think
I'm much more interested in English cultures/language/Literature (actuallly I studied English literature @ University... but my English is still very very bad.. or My English is going worse and worse as I get old ) than Japanese
But if you have a chance to watch Samurai film, I recommend "The Twilight Samurai/Tasogare Seibei (Seibei is a Samurai name of this film (hero))" You'll see what Samurai (lawer class) life is like. I rarely watch Japanese films, but this is bearable
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Twilight_Samurai
Yup, I'll tell you when I find incorrect phrases/views on those entries

kbrtiata Posted Mar 20, 2007
Also, still lot of us don't know any other English except for "Hello" so if they reply them, they don't know how to say to them

That reminds me, a friend of mine is a concert tenor, and is quite well known in Japan... he finds it quite odd to be mobbed by squealing fans shouting "Jason Darnell! Jason Darnell! Photo!"
DAIMYO
kbrtiata Posted Mar 20, 2007
it would happen to rock singers like Bowie, Queen .... but I didn't know that even Calssical music singers have got those kind of experiences
by the way, what does it mean Jason Darnell Jason Darnell 'PHOTO!!' Did they want to take photos of him????
