h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

I'm in a sort of bazaar somewhere in the Himalayas. I'm having an conversation with a group of men, very worldly and facile. A small Vietnamese man, maybe 60 years old, has a cardboard tray. In it are small irridencent Buddha images, the left palm is under the chin with the fingers upward, sort of grasping it. The right is resting on the knee, palm downward The men I am with seem annoyed with the Old man, as he is trying to sell these figurines. The man tells me that they are the "Insight Buddha". I'm not particularly interested in buying one, but ask him about other figures, he tells me that they are very expensive. I ask him if he knows of an image of the Buddha with Subhuti and Ananda. And he seems amused that I am demonstrating my wide but shallow knowledge.

I'm surprised that I can even remember the names of those to Buddhist disciples. I looked on the web and there are images of them exactly as I dreamed.
