S and I have been pretty much tied up with work for the last few days - since Thursday night, in fact. There are vague plans to visit a pal in the next day or so, but as for myself I have been stuck in the cubbyhole buffering ahead for the coming week's lectures. I'll have to phone Geo tonight to see if he has been doing any hospital visiting lately.

Anyhow, ten years in, this journal is now pretty much moribund. I'll update on it for a wee while yet but I'm not in it for the long term. I personally pretty much avoid message boards &c though S continues to browse and sometimes posts.

Yes, I will definitely give Geo a call tonight.

That's a shame, Douglas. Your Journal saw us through an interesting time in your life. Be well, anyway. And Sue.

Tar werry much...

Some welcome news in re my pal who is in hospital:

He has been under the knife for a port and has just had his second dialysis session all having gone well with number one. He is off the oxygen but has had his beard trimmed in case he needs to go back on. The dialysis set-up currently rules out listening to the radio but this may be fixable. He is getting visitors, and is well enough to now be suggesting to the hospital staff how their med tech might be improved. He still has no internet but is aware that people are sending their good wishes and enquiring after him. Susan will try to get to see him tomorrow. She will take a radio with her for him to try out. Asked on Friday if he wanted anything, he said 'pants. Having visited him last week I can attest to the urgency of this request (hospital gowns &c). Geo has undertaken pants-delivery. Ward now safe for female visitors.

Positive news then. And maybe an update tomorrow.
