Yesterday, and the place was mobbit. Three lots of students collared me to get their pictures taken standing next to me - a kind of 'the ugliest monkey in the zoo' thang, I suspect, tho' colleagues say I should be flattered. I am monitor-dazzled this afternoon and yawning. I had a wee walk before lunch and bought a bagload of Jeeves paperbacks.
I was wandering amid the new law graduates yesterday looking for my thesis proofreader - she had no inkling she'd landed the gig, but - thankfully - she said 'yes' when I finally did find her.
I have had some nice comments in the course feedbacks, but the photo requests yesterday took me by surprise. One picture had be staning between three hunka hunka kilties and I am gey demme sure rabbit ears were ga'an oan ahin' ma heid.
The thing is that maybe, when they're my age, they will pull out the photo and briefly remember me, as in 'he was an idiot but he was some help and if not then we at least got a laugh...'
Being an educator is a privilege.
Anent privilege, Susan and I watched The Ruling Class last night. I saw it years and years ago and knew what to expect. Susan hadn't even heard of it...

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
