h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

So we schlepped down to the Uni. I took two bags full of ver' heavy library books to return. We met the Prof and had cawfee, a Dr coming along too. During cawfee I was told that Dr @-x had left the department at ver' short notice to take up a plum post with a Swiss-based NGO-type agency, to be based in a city on the Danube. He was, it seems, in the law school on the Friday and in Vienna on the Monday morning, having cleared out a room full of books, as in the room could only be traversed using the book-free paths. Anyhow, he had my copy of V For Vendetta on loan, and demmy if he hasn't skipped of to Yurp with it - I made it VERY clear that the book was going to him on loan, but he must have taken a shine to it, and clearly quite a shine to warrant so dramatic a runner...

I suppose I can kiss the stack of porny videos goodbye as well.

Anyhow, we had cawfee and chatted awhile, then we dropped in on Caius, who had some minutes to spare between networking sessions. Then we walked in to town. We had ice cream at Casa di... then did some shopping at Morrisons. I went to 1-Up, but didn't buy anything, then to the Oxfam Bookshop, where I bought a Aerosmith CD and a Courtney Pine CD, plus Golem 100 (Alfred Bester), Inverted World (Christopher Priest), Bug Jack Barron (Norman Spinrad), Viridiconuim (M John Harrison), A Scanner Darkly (Philip K Dick), and Daemons (Stephen Laws). This made up in part for the loss of the V For...

Slash isn't half bad a guitarist, and I am on the look-out for the Velvet Revolver CDs second-hand.

I did NOT get a law school notification e-mail re the publication, tomorro, of Issue 2 of the Aberdeen Student Law Review. There is a reception, and I wasn't on the 'to be informed', and I am blummin well going to crash it tomorrow evening.
