Well the last few parts of the build up vanished in part due to me not carring much anymore.
Saint Patricks day was... odd. I had a pint or two, and some chocolate cake, and went to bed. Oh and argued (insert sacraficial victory quote from Tzu or perhaps Yamamoto here).
Saturday was bizarre as well. I decided, in my infinate wisdom, that the rusty modellers vice in my cupboard must be cleaned. So mark carried it down stairs. At his disposal were: A chisel, a screw driver, and a Black and Decker mouse.
Now this vice was rescued from the wreckage of a garage, so whilst usable was pretty gunked up. Cue scraping away gunk with chisel (including yellow dirt which was mightily scarey). Unscrewing most of the mechanism, I was pretty impressed at the workmanship. So out came the mouse and I got sanding away. I cleaned two bits and began to feel funny. Sickly. I picked up the chisel (intending to scrape away some more gunk) only to notice what looked like hairs.. silver hairs. lots.
It was this point I thought I should have worn a mask, and my mum proceeded to reassure me by saying '[the vice] probably had lead paint on it' - I'm currently rellying on a decade of close proximity to lead models to give me an immunity, but If I dont post or speak to anyone for 3 weeks then assume the worst. I'd like to be buried next to my great grandad at agecroft cemetary - just in case.
So the holidays have begun - what fun do I have planned?
Today - Catalogue 1 hours worth of film in as much detail as possible, and then make it into a story board ready for editing. Then complete my film studies coursework to hand in tomorrow. Paint models ready to send off to ebay as well.
Monday - Get up at riduclous time (8am!), head off to college. Pray theres an edit machine free, and a camera to capture off, and get started. Then work like a daemon for 8 hours to get 50% of my editing done.
Tuesday - realise I only have 50% of editing done, and remember I still need to get theatre shoots done. Spend rest of day phoning around theatres and schools to desperately try and find a willing location for shooting.
Assuming theres no more filming to be done, and I can get my spoken language done quickly, I then have 10 days free.
I will then spend these ten days painting my brand new army. 100 beastmen which I bought when I got giddy. I then have 4 ogres to paint, my cavalry, my new daemon prince (Faustarius, hes lovely you know) and probably something else I've forgotten.
Oh and I plan to use the second week to fufill two desires Ive been pinning after - back to back Red Dwarf (18 hours) back to back Lord Of the Rings (12 hours).
Ah well - at least it'll help with my painting.

AD you do know they stoped making lead models 9 years ago at least
the chances of you getting imunity to lead poisoning isnt very likely,
still I hope you have a nice holiday

Ahhh but thats where your wrong.
White metal came in during my time (Ill spend much of tomorrow trawlling 112 copies of white dwarf if necessary) - I know because they used it to cover a sneaky price increase on the metals.
You came in at 5th edition Fantasy - I began when 4th was released (high elves and gobbos in the box), and the space wolf terminators - that I have kept since I got them all those years ago - are lead. Plus the snakemen I have, the old knight with yellow cape, and the original box of chaos warrior accompanied by the 'knights of law' and hobgoblin raiders are all lead and sat around happily in my bedroom
Leads nicer to paint Anthea. It doesnt move about in your hand like white metal does. Oh and white metal is harder to see if you undercoat it white - you cant tell if you have the right coverage or not unless you ink it first.
Then again it all depends on the sculpt. The new beastmen are all plastic, but there a wonder to paint (thats why theres 100 setting up a village under my bed), and the ogre kingdoms are too due to the weight. But Dwarfs arent. I'm a staunch dwarf player and I always have been, and Im proud to say my long beards have only been wiped out to the point where theres one man left, never fully destroyed, but the plastics are woefully inadiquate.
Try getting your hands on a lead model or two at some point anthea, they dont help your painting because of the weight variation (you go back to plastic/white metal and wonder why there so light) but they'll be some of your best painted.
