Well being a bit lazy I've decided to sum up my year today, even though theres a day or three left to go.
To be honest this year hasnt been good what so ever. I mean its had some fantastic highs but when its been low its been really low.
So some of the happier moments...
In september my sister contacted me once again, which was timed just perfect with regards to general feeling at the time. This is mainly because I was back at College for my third year. Some people thought I should go. Actually everyone told me to go which was nice, but when I stayed college was pretty lonely place (barring my regular story fix, it was rather lonely). She's chaged quite a bit from what I remember but then again shes growing up faster then I can keep up with. Makes me feel quite old.
I began to worm my way into the gaming industry on the lowest rung of the ladder. I join a Demo team for a lovely little company that seems to be having trouble at the moment and arent being very nice (especially the point where the head of the UK demo teams stole my idea of a regular demo at a manchester shop thats rather brilliant, but what can you do ay?)
After months of annoyance, and watching other enteries zoom in, I finally got my phallanx entery in. Its incredibly frustrating to wait all that time and then have someone attack it and pick at it for no clear reason other then to appear to be doing work. Then to have an image placed onto the guide entery that had no place what so ever broke the camels back in all honesty. Jimsters head promptly bit off when he did an image, because it was inaccurate which is probably the reason why I was ignored in the ACE's recruitment not so long ago.
I entered a painting competition for the first time and was justly trounced. Im just not at that standard yet, but soon enough. I've got far too many ideas for this year, but ill see how it goes. I want to win a trophey before I die. And by Crom I will before I'm old and pretty.
Well it needs to be mentioned as probibly one of the more memorable events of this year. Ma'rol Mannan, scourge of the galaxy, died.... twice. I'm still infuriated at the manner of his second death, mainly because it seemed like it had all been a waste of time. The first death though I was very happy with; seemed fitting for Ma'rol to kill himself rather then be bound and chained again. I especially loved the irony in Od'sseus' death; Ma'rol killed him as well.
The triad are still fluttering about, along with the handmaids, but that can all wait till the new year - ive got too much on my plate to do anything at the moment really.
December saw the beginning of complete and utter madness on my part and I love it. I do beleive in Crom and Goblins (the sneaky sods), mainly because I have no reason not too. The sheer insanity of trying to map and entire continent has had me giggling with delight on many occasion, and I cant wait till its completetion. I dont even mind if it doesnt get used really. I just wanted to make something like this before H2G2 gets closed down (come on, if cults being closed what chance as H2G2 got really?).
Another brilliant thing that I highly recommend to everyone here is the listen again feature on BBC 7. Why? Well tuesdays see not only The goon show, but I'm sorry i havent a clue and dads army as well. Listen on a saturday and you get Dead Ringers WITH BRIAN BLESSED! which has tickled me no end.
(These shows are on Monday and Friday, but there on the listen again section on the given days)
I became the first person in my family to do quite a few things all of which I'm extremely proud of.
I signed on to the dole, which my dad did at one point when he lost his driving license, and my is it fab. If your looking for a job, I'd advise you to go on the dole straight away, because then if you get stuck for a job you'll at least have some money coming in to help you.
I became the first person in my family not to have a job at 18. The men of the family all joined the army at 16 and stayed in the service, whilst the women for the most part went off to clean. I instead fot 3 A-levels and a lollypop. Go team!
I spent my 18 Birthday in argueably the greatest pub that has ever existed - Waxy O'Conners. Depending on how much Mula I have on Friday I might go spend the New Year there and have a sing song.
I waved good bye to my old Judo club, although it wasnt emotional as first I thought it would be. There were so many people I wanted to show Judo, and luckily I got the chance to show Gina and Robin, who have borne the brunt of my insantiy and low points this past year.
I also fufilled my year long ambittion of watching the extended Return Of The King and couldnt help but smile. When a film can give you a tingle up your spine time and time again, its done something right. Who can say they watched the Rohirrim charge and didnt feel a slight stir in the belly, or the eagles attacking the Nazgul, or most prominantly Pippins song for Eomir as he charges towards his doom.
Now I'm tired, so I'm off to play on my Xbox for awhile and ponder. If you've read this far then thank you for persevering (even though only my stalker probably will, but hey thats life).
Night all.
