What do people outside St.Louis think of the InBev/Bush meger?

The merger is a huge deal here in St.Louis (the base of Bush) and very unpopular. But I want to know what people from the rest of the world think and for that matter if you even know about it.

turvy (Fetch me my trousers Geoffrey...)

I know of the merger. It creates the largest brewery company in the world.

I will have nothing to do with Anheuser Busch because of their entertainment activity - http://www.anheuser-busch.com/BEC.html . Seaworld keeps whales and dolphins in tanks and I disagree with this.

Nor do I drink much lager (mostly what InBev produce). I prefer top fermented beers (proper ale smiley - ale).

yeah I'd heard of it. Don't drink any of their beverages though. Wasn't aware of the impact it had on the local community though.

FLagged it up as something I should read more about but I guess I filed it under the 'less important things' since it doesn't immediately affect me.

I wonder if more US brands will be sold outside now with the economic problems. Certainly it is happening in the UK where I guess there's less concern about it as we've sold most of the family silver already.

Well Novo, I drink Bass and Guiness stateside, for what its worth, and I used to enjoy a pint of real ale at a purportedly authentic British pub (enjoy being the operative word).
But I'm just about to start work with a British consulting firm (my office is in Boston, MA, US) and as a perk I should get to go to the main headquarters in the UK one week of the year, and actually try some authentic British brews.

2legs - Hey, babe, take a walk on the wild side...

Let me know if you want any advice on which beers to try; I've been extensively researching Brittish/UK real ales since 1993 smiley - cheerssmiley - droolsmiley - ale
To the question, I'm pretty sure they don't brew anythign I@d actually bother drinking; if I'm unfortunate enough these days to end up somewhere that doesn't serve a drinkable beer I'll just have water or orange juice, or at a push if they've got a decent spirit have a wisky or vodka or gin or rum smiley - stiffdrinksmiley - erm
