Euphoric One - I can bend minds with my spoon Started conversation Aug 15, 2003
I'm in favor of my job. I get paid $8 an hour to do what I love (play with computers) and I can work from home most of the time. Plus, when I go to the school (I work for a private school for smart kids with learning disabilities), I get to bring home computers/computer parts. I'm in favor of this, though slightly worried because I brought home a Macintosh. Sacrilege (sic)!
I just figured a Mac would, being good for nothing else, make for an effective internet server, since no one knows macs enough to hack through them. Oh well, I lack my creative edge tonight. Someone talk to me!

hey! macs rule! and pcs are evil and confounding. if you want to do anything relating to aart or design on your computer, you need a mac. now all the hip designers will welcome you to their mac world! plus all the computer viruses attack windows.

I'm not an artist. I'm a programmer, which I suppose is a sort of logical art, but I am in no way graphical.
That's why I plan to use the Mac as an internet server. It's a pseudo-firewall.

That was quite an intimidating retort. I find myself embarassed to have even challenged you in an OS war of wit.

heehee, thanks. i guess for programming or gaming pcs would be better, but i'm not much into either one of those, and i think the mac operating system is much more elegant-looking and intuitive. and if you're serious about wanting a good retort, are you anti abortion, or pro death penalty? i .... er .... can have an intelligent discussion on any ethics issue. and i tend to talk to my computer with such amazingly creative retorts as , it's not you ^_~

How is a mac intuitive? They're almost completely opposite of that. So totally unintuitive that my vast and impressive vocabulary fails me. Besides, I am both a gamer and a programmer. PCs are better than macs. The elegant-looking macs are just pretty cases around a dysfunctional computer.
About ethics.. I figure abortion should be the mother's choice and I'm indecisive about death penalty. I don't have a real strong grounding in ethics, though I am willing to learn.
Don't worry -- is an impressive retort for a non-geek.

can't think of a good answer, so *waves* i guess you're ok, i totally can't understand it when guys are anti-choice, unless it's their own kid. it's a fetus, not a person. at the stage when almost all abortions are done, you can't tell the difference between a dog and a person just by looking. and it acts like a parasite, the placenta has to secrete hormones that supress the mother's immune system so she doesn't reject the baby like an organ transplant. it's not a person then!! a lot of tribal cultures, i think this might still be done in china but don't quote me, don't give a permanent name unitl kids are a year or so old, so that it doesn't count as a death before then. and the really .... vocabulary fails me here ... sucky thing is that medical students only get one elective, and the vast majority would rather take a pediatrics course or somthing like that insead of learning how to do an abortion, which means that almost all the drs who know how are old farts that would be retired if they weren't so badly needed. also, abortion clinics don't even exist in something over 80% of american counties. and now that stupid no late term abortions law ... the particular procedure they banned is amost only used when there's some really serious medical problem with the fetus, like acephalany (no brain) where the mother would otherwise be faced with carrying it to term and giving birth only for it to die within days. bet you can't guess what i think of the death penalty. and is an impressive retort coming from me ^_~

I guess .... you like the death penalty!
This is as yet the least intelligent thing I have said on H2G2 (knock on wood).
