Your advice here is very well put, has nice organization, and actually makes sense. It seems that you also have been listening to the comments people have been making, which also puts somebody high up on my possible recommendations list. I'm very impressed with this piece, do you feel like it is complete? I find that it is only complete when the author is totally and completely happy with it. Keep up the excellent work!

Thank you for the kind words about the article. It was actually pretty easy to write. Personal experience is a great motivator and teacher!

I think it's complete. I'm just tweaking at this point and checking for misspelled words and such. I did add a little more information about sunlight and heat forming ozone - noting that unlike the 'good' ozone in the stratosphere, ozone on the ground is 'bad' - something that people can find confusing.

Yeah, breathing in that O3 isn't that good for one (though it would explain the behaviour of certain politicians these days...)!

Bulcking doesn't suggest metal to me cause I can imagine plastic and other materials buckling just as easily (If you hold a plastic ruler between both hands and attempt to compress it, it will buckle). Buckling does not fit what happens to a road in hot weather. What you've described is just the bitumen melting and being redistributed (the terms shove and push come to mind).
So you could simply say that the pavement fails.

Wellity wellity, quizzical, it's that point where I have to ask if this entry is ready for the Edited Guide. Are you okay for it to move on to the next stage or do you need more time? Let us know either way as soon as you can,

Jims

Yes, I think the article ready to go. I made one last pass at it and removed the bit about buckling road beds, replacing it with a comment about overheating engines - the word 'buckle' was problematic and the fact wasn't all that important.

Oh, it's so exciting when an entry moves along...smiley - smiley

Your Guide Entry has just been picked from Peer Review by one of our Scouts, and is now heading off into the Editorial Process, which ends with publication in the Edited Guide. We've therefore moved this Review Conversation out of Peer Review and to the entry itself.

If you'd like to know what happens now, check out the page on 'What Happens after your Entry has been Recommended?' at EditedGuide-Process. We hope this explains everything.

Thanks for contributing to the Edited Guide!
