Ever noticed that gadgets are one of those inventions that seem to primarily appeal to males? You don't see women drooling over the latest mobile phone with built-in fax, e-mail, computer, washing machine etc. It's a guy thing.
The Gadget Urge has probably accounted for more failed relationships than many other more mundane reasons. Example: "You spend more time playing with that infernal computer/TV/stereo/laptop/digital watch than you do talking to me!" Or: "I can't believe you just spent [insert ludicrous amount of local currency here] on that [insert expensive and useless Gadget here]! You never spend any money on me..." and so on.
