As long as I hold on to my past,
I can not greet/embrace my future.

and by writing about my past I also intend to say farewell and I've gone a long way at the right track.

I also did by visiting "Dordrecht"; a city ,were I lived in an abandoned, very old house, for a couples of months after I had left Rotterdam*.
I did visit it a week ago for the first time (2007) after 35 years, 1972.
And the very old, small house was still there.
I did recognize it immediately. A fossile.
I lived in it in the attic with my dog, a pick-up player and some "L.P.s" of Cat Stevens and some practical things for eating and sleeping.
I felt rather safe and happy and Dordrecht is in the centre a very old and beautiful city and my house was in that same area.
After a few months, suddenly in 1971, a lot of noise at the door downstairs;
Police, the owner and a helper; "**** of, go away and find yourself a place where the junkies live".
I was perplexed, but did not feel totally defeated. The house I lived in could not be of any normal use. Impossible.
"We need it", they said.
The owner’s helper brought my stuff from the attic and put it on the street. After he was finished he did steal my hammer and my screwdriver.
When he was finished I called my dog and we both left, while I said;"well,I leave it all as it is, cause I don't need it any longer.
Now I revisited the house, I could see that after me, not anyone had lived there after me, and it was never used for any purpose, as I fully expected in those days.
I had painted in 1972 some biblical words at the inside wall of the attic; "there were you have your treasure, there will remain your heart".
Now, in 2007, I talked to a barber in that same street and he told me; "Yes, these three very old houses, these will be demolished after six weeks and the owner is still the same man".
I wrote a small letter and put that in the mailbox of the owner.
My revenge.
"demolished, after six weeks" still goes around in my head.
I left Dordrecht and will never return.
*(Rotterdam was my first heaven after I fled home)
