A Conversation for How You Can Help Save the Albatross

how can you help...to save the albatros

Dear makers of the site of John Ridgway,

Firstly I would like to thank you for your appealing site about John's initiative, and at the fundament of it John himself to act and thus inspire others to do so!

The page "how can you help" could be benefitted by adding a link to the international "Save the Albatros" project, in which I found extensive information on the problems endangering the albatros and "how to help" to save the beautiful animal.

I just started to organise a benefit concert in the Netherlands for the "Save the Albatros" project. I am a concert pianist and composer
and am in the process to involve a fine artist in this concert to paint, live, a painting and sell it to the highest bidder.

It would be an interesting idea to involve John at the end of the concert when the bidding starts -live by satellite, through internet I suppose- in order to raise more funds to get the albatros off the hook.

Could you ask John if he would join in such an effort?

Maybe he would like to get directly in contact with me?

I suppose this is possible through this h2g2 account.

Best wishes,

Researcher 236327

Hello

Thanks for your support and interest. You will see that I have added a link to the ‘how you can help’ page as you suggested. If your concert coincides with John Ridgway’s yacht being in port then I am sure that John or one of his team would be delighted to get involved via the internet along the lines you have outlined. Unfortunately though it is unlikely they will be able to do this if they’re at sea. So when is the concert? Best Richard

Hi there Researcher 236327 (Be great if you would fill in you personal space with an I am ... so that we can get your name)

"Just had this reply in from John Ridgway on the yatch:
We plan to stop Steve Gilbert, Los Gigantes, Tenerife.
Get the Dutch pianist/composer to do a Son et Lumiere. Get Andy & Mike Lezala to the concert and let rip with their Albatross song. We'd do a piece through the BBC Live Studio. Make it happen Richard.
Get Hans Peeters ("Hans Peeters" <[email protected]&gtsmiley - winkeye involved. He's on the Dutch Bird mag. Keen as hell on JR Albatross Voyage
John"

Please keep looking at the daily log so that you know where they are. It is much easier to contact them direct when they're in port. Best Richard

Dear Composer,

I read your offer to organise a benefit concert for the Albatross Campaign in the Netherlands. Looks like a good idea. Our organisation Vogelbescherming Nederland is the Dutch Partner of BirdLife International and involved with John Ridgway journey around the world. For this see our magazine Birds form August/September. Please come in contact with us an'd we'll see how we can cooperate.
With kind regards,

Dear John, Marie Christine and other crew,

How are you fox? Reaching the Canarian Islands? Be happy, on the continent we have a very warm period. Temperatures till 40 degrees.
I just send a message for the componist/composer via this mediam. So far he is a misterious albatross-friend.

In our magazine Vogels the interview with John is published! Already very good respons. I sent two samples to your adress in Scotland. Hope some-one will take care to the post.

All the best and be with you in mind.

Greetings

Hans Peeters

Hello,

This is John here. First words of typing since Scotland. Things are going well in Capetown. Perhaps it would be good to link your concert with the Global Petition which I'm flying from the yacht to present to United Nations in Rome in June 2004? Maybe we should work through Hans Peters?

Into the mist...

John
