Florida Sailor All is well with the world

I wish I were far out at sea, at least a few hundred miles out into the Gulf!

Unfortunately we are hard aground in a mobile (manufactured) home and watching each update of the storm and its track with trepidation. This one looks bad, but it should not here until Saturday night or Sunday morning - why do they always hit in the middle of the night? We are supposed to evacuate – but I am watching and waiting - at least until noon tomorrow (Saturday).

The stores and gas stations are crazy I did manage to get most of a tank of gas (petrol) this morning, so at least a bit of the future is in my own hands..

We are just a few miles north and west of Tampa. Any thought and prayers are greatly appreciated. Thank you for your concern and we hope all is well with you.

If all goes well I may try to send a message to smiley - thepost with a few photos, but this is real – my wife and dog come first.

smiley - cheers

Amen! You've got your priorities straight.

We're high and dry in western Pennsylvania - 500 feet above the nearest river. But we're watching all this weather, and praying for the folk down South.

Take care, and keep in touch! smiley - hug

Just a quick note to let you know we are back up, on power and water. No great stories to tell from this one. I still have not seen news clips from the storm. We lost power about 10:30 Saturday night and I have not seen a complete update since.

smiley - cheers

Yay! smiley - biggrin Glad you've got power back. After Hugo, we went two weeks without electricity, which was only partly fun. Hope your freezer didn't suffer.

My sister had water three feet from the door, but there it stopped. That was on the Georgia coast. Other relatives went to Asheville, NC, and my other sister's in-laws headed for Mississippi. Let's hope everything settles down for awhile.

As Irma went through Tampa, I was glued to Twitter and Youtube. That was a lot of water. smiley - fish I admire Floridians: they were out there rescuing manatees and large stranded fish.
