Folk Remedy Quiz - Solution and Winner

Icy North

It's about time I put you all out of your misery regarding last Friday's West Sussex folk remedy quiz - the Piebald horse thing, you remember? I listed twelve so-called folk remedies and asked you to work out if they were true or false.

Those of you who had a go assumed that most of them were true, and you were right. In fact there was only one made-up remedy:

***
2. Baldness: Carry a squirrel's tail in a pigskin pouch. As the tail withers, the hair returns.
***

For the record, Dmitri and 2legs score 8, and Gnomon, for assuming they were all true, scores 11 smiley - bubbly

Serious problems remain, however. Curing whooping-cough by being repeatedly led backwards on a donkey while carrying hair cut from its neck-cross in a silk bag is, let's face it, not going to be available on the NHS anywhere outside Blackpool.
