It seems the QQ board has finally curled up its toes and kicked the cyber-bucket.

Even though it gives the appearance of normality, the grindingly slow access time to even one page is a complete deterrent to the whole ethos of the spontaneous post and communal reaction/banter. Moribund.

It also seems that the "Old Brigade" have decamped (not an inappropriate word for several of our number) to the "Oldie" MB.

Whether they ever return rests wholely on the shoulders of the BBC. If they can restore it to the service of even 6 months ago, then it will be, grumble, gripe as ever - be tolerable and... yes...even pleasurable, then they probably will return - as the format of the "Oldie" is not conducive to any large scale, targetted reply posting.

Time will tell. But as that gruff old buffer, Lee Marvin said..."Lady, I just don't have the time..."

I concur, Major. The Oldie board's format is a mess without even the ability to reply to individual messages. Pity really, because the idea is essentally a good one.

Sadly, Istvn has not posted here. I have posted over on the Oldie as a guest. A sentence including the words 'teddy' and 'pram' begins to suggest itself!

Actually, the SearchMalta board is better adapted to our purposes. Responses are editable and the relationship between messages is clear. Wish I'd considered it before starting this page. Ah well.

i disagree with both of you... has very good potential if some people - currently in a massively compulsive phase - would not only post stuff barely fit for alzheimer sufferers... which i think - incidentally - also contributed to mb demise... i personally appreciate the pesonal message facility and have had pleasant and sensible exchnges that way.... these dont appear on the board, of course...you can also just follow certain people if u want to -not possible on qq-... also last messages, notify, edit delete of one's messages available.. aesthetically not great but lots of mod/cons,,,,,

If I'd gone for SearchMalta you'd be able to edit posts and use the chatroom for one-to-one conversation. OK, the Oldie has its advantages. Folks will vote with their feet as they always do. It's up to them now - I'm kinda sitting back and just posting the odd reminder.
