Well, what an interesting piece !
Of course some of the comments that the writer made are indeed true to a point.
Barbados, like most developing nations has many issues that need to be addressed like, better customer service, better roads etc but I find it difficult to accept that each country in the world must have the same standards & value system.
After all that is why we travel, to experience different cultures ! Is it not ?
The larger developed Western nations often think that they have a "God given" right to impose there standards or values on us of the developing world. A mistake often made & quite reflective of the Foreign Policies of Western nations !
As a Barbadian who was educated in the UK, I accept many of the negative criticisms that the writer made but are they really justified!
Is the standard of living so much better in the UK ?
Do the bureaucratic wheels turn any faster ?
Are things in general "so much better" in the UK ?
I guess the grass is always greener on the other side but from where I sit it appears brown on both sides.
After all we have a Westminister style government, what we know we were taught by Western Universities, some of us are more British than the British, we even have cricket as "our" national sport!
So really we are just reflective of your systems, "with a twist".
Yes, life in Barbados can be very frustrating but by in large we have a better standard of living than that in the UK.
I travel yearly to Europe & the UK & I too have experienced surley sales staff, racial problems (I'm white male by the way), inefficient banking systems etc but would I think of writing an article to a major news group to outline these ? No !
So what was the writers point? 15 minutes of fame!!!!
Show me a country without these problems.
So here's a little advise to any one travelling to Barbados; don't expect the same standards/values etc that you're accustomed to at home.
Come & experience Barbados as it is, not as you might like it to be.

Hi there,
Thanks for leaving your comment. I am the author of Stuff They Never Told You About Living in London. I read your reply, but was not quite sure who your criticisms were directed toward.
I also want to reiterate that my article was a rebuttal, to an article called Stuff They Never Told You About Living in Barbados and was written to point out that the very same things the author faults barbados on can be said about the UK.
Would love to hear back from you.
