Our day in the sub
bubster Started conversation Dec 30, 1999
I sometimes think the world is not all that nice a place.
So, we're walking our puppies in the sunshine, a couple of blocks from our place, enjoying the day, when someone driving past yells out "faggots!" and gives us the finger.
Now, this is pretty small abuse, but the whole complexion of the day changes. Apparently we don't have the right to peacefully enjoy our own surroundings. Apparently - on whatever level - being gay really is a political act.
It's not something I choose to flaunt, it's just a part of who I am, but you can't help but get riled that just doing something others take for granted can provoke that sort of response.

I think someone should come up with an especially insulting and derogatory epithet for heterosexuals so there can be something equally snappy to yell back.
Equally snappy... equally sna... how about "ALBATROSS!"
No?
Rrrrr.
And... and this is almost but not entirely completely irrelevant... I like 'sub' better.
*hugs bubster cause he's there*

Well, funny you should mention that. Sometimes we call our straight friends 'breeders'. That's always good for a laugh.

Hmm. We used to know a lady we called a breeder, but then again, although she did breed quite a lot, she did it with cats.
Ohh, boy does that not sound right.

*fails*
WWWeeeeeeahahahahahahahAHAHAHAH!!!!
No, not right. Doesn't sound right, indeed, not by a long shot. But it makes for a hilarious mental image, so it only makes sense.
Bubster, honey, both you and I know that I don't need to say this, but it's far too late and I'm gonna say it any way: I love you very, very much! If you weren't bubster, well...you just wouldn't be bubster. We wouldn't have you any other way, and that's the dagblammed truth! So there.
We all learn early on that people who have real problems with themselves tend to rag on others to make their own pathetic little lives seem more worthwhile. I could whip up an onslaught of creative and witty things you could yell back to mister "Not-gettin'-on-so-well-with-the-wife-incredibly-unhappy-gotta-take-it-out-on-a-fella-who's-found-real-happiness", but inevitably it's only a waste of air. People like that LOVE to see the brunt it all get upset by the stupid, cheese-headed things they say. It's best to ignore them. Or best yet to retort with something like, "Pardon me sir, but instead of "faggots" we'd rather prefer to be called *insert even more ridiculous slur here*".
That'll take him an entire case of beer to figure out.
Anyway, I'm going to squinch on you now...hope you don't mind...

Have a great New Years!

Just remember, it's not just a whole new day from yesterday and its annoyances, it's a whole new millennium! Sigh. Not that it'll probably change anything about the idiots of the world, but one can always hope, yes?

Thanks for your thoughts, guys. Just so's you know: I don't lose sleep over this sort of thing. It's no big deal - just intrusive and annoying - but it is nice (therapeutic?) to be able to mouth off about it from time to time.
I think the thing that upsets me the most is that my instant reaction is to want to throw a rock through the guy's window as he drives by. That's not really the way I want to react to the world, but you get that.

Wait a sec...throwing rocks at the windows of passing cars...not normal behavior...

Don't be too upset by that instant reaction - it was mine when I read it too (and I have this netutation for being mild-mannered)
So, you are still alive one day into millenium! I think I heard the yodelling too!
*hugs bubster, adjusts blanket over Ant, waves to all*

No, that Cyndi thing was just a mistake. Erm, there is no Cyndi thing at all even. I was just passing by with some support and love and indignation and somehow my sig was screwed up. Where is bubster anyway - sleeping or some such silly thing? And when is Krissy getting back? And why is floor42 so deserted right now? And why am I not trying to get that octopus to bed?

No, no, bubsy can't be asleep, it's the middle of the day. Nope, impossible.
